CPL Twitter Accounts

CPL is using twitter to keep its followers updated about library programs. Its a good way of reaching a large number of people. Having individual accounts for each branch helps customers find information relevant for their branches of choice, which is great.

Library Thing

Library thing is a useful website to keep track of my personal book collection. It is a great way to share the books you are reading with your friends and find new books to read and make a wish list (so you don't forget about them).

Productivity Tools

These productivity tools are very nice, but I don`t think they will replace traditional MS Office software. I think that software like Thunderbird and Firefox will replace MS Office because they are free.

Flickr and Youtube

Both Flickr and Youtube are user friendly websites. The content you are looking for is very easy to find. I use youtube a lot.

RSS Feeds

I was able to create a Bloglines account. It seems like a nice tool for people that follow a lot of websites. I am not sure if RSS feeds would be useful to me because I don`t follow many websites.

Google Maps

There are many wonderful google products but one that I think is the most useful is google maps. It is great for finding places in the city and it is also great for planning a trip and finding the best route. You can choose whether you are traveling by city transit, car, or walking. If you are taking transit it will tell you exactly which buses to take and when the next bus will arrive. You can also use street view to see what the places you are traveling to look like. Sometimes, the software does not find the best route, but I think it will get better with time.

Social Networking

Facebook is a good site to stay in touch with your friends and relatives. However, not many of my friends and relatives have a facebook account, so I don't think this site would be useful to me. I think that facebook would be a very good tool for people with an active social life. Also if you are a part of a certain organization it would be useful to distribute information and notify people of upcoming events through facebook.
